New and highly specialized industry clusters are able to form within the CORE because of the region’s central location and access to advanced research facilities.

The CORE is home to the University of Missouri designated “Doctoral/Research Extensive” by the Carnegie Foundation for the Announcement of Teaching specializing in fields such as life sciences and veterinary medicine, and one of only 34 AAU-designated public universities.
